Komp is a one-button computer, simpler to use than any tablet or smartphone, linked to an app for family members to use. From their own device, children, grandchildren and old friends can share photos, messages and make video calls directly to the person viewing Komp’s screen.
With 4G internet now available with Komp, all grandma or grandpa has to do is plug it in and turn it on, making it as easy to set up as it is to use. Komp is developed with privacy and security in mind, so it is a safe, secure and closed social network for the whole family.
To send photos, messages and make video calls, you need to download the Komp app (iOS or Android). Once connected to Komp you can invite your friends and family to the app, see a feed of images they send and interact with the Komp user, making it a closed social network for the entire family. Why would I need 4G? If your relative does not have WiFi available, you can get our 4G subscription, which you purchase via the app. The integrated SIM card will pick up the mobile network, just like your smartphone. You just plug it in, and it works! There has to be 4G reception in the area.

How much does it cost?
Our 4G subscription costs £19 per month for unlimited data. The first month is free.
I've purchased/rented Komp without 4G. Can I have it at a later stage?
Yes, you can start and cancel a subscription at any moment in the Komp app. There is no notice period and you can cancel at any time.
How does it work?
Every Komp comes with an integrated 4G SIM card that is active during the installation process. The person who sets up the Komp automatically becomes administrator and will receive a message during onboarding whether they want to purchase 4G or use WiFi instead.
If there is no WiFi available, you can purchase an unlimited 4G subscription for £18.99 per month, with the first month for free. The subscription is managed via the Google Play Store (for Android devices) or the App Store (for Apple devices). When activated, you can cancel your subscription any time.
Tap “Use WiFi instead” if you don’t want to purchase a subscription, and add a WiFi network to the Komp. When the Komp is connected to WiFi, the 4G SIM card will be disabled. More information on adding a WiFi network.
How do I subscribe for 4G?
The first person who sets Komp up can purchase a 4G subscription via the app during the onboarding stage. You can also activate the subscription at a later moment. More information on activating and cancelling your subscription can be found here
Can I use a different SIM card
It is not possible to use your own SIM card in Komp. It is also not possible to insert the Komp SIM card into a different device, if this is done the SIM card will be blocked.
You can terminate your subscription via the Play Store or App Store at any moment, which will cancel your 4G and the billing at the end of the month. There is no minimum period for a 4G subscription. Please visit our support pages for more information and instructions.
The Komp app connects your smartphone or tablet to the Komp device, and can be downloaded in the App Store or Google Play Store From the Komp app, children, grandchildren and old friends can share photos, messages and make video calls directly to the person viewing Komp’s screen. The Komp app is your gateway to access the Komp device.
Through the app, you can send photos, messages and make video calls. You can also change language preferences, time zone and add widgets like weather forecast.
The feed displays all photos and messages sent by the family. You will only see content that is also visible on the Komp device.
The content on the Komp device will be displayed in a continuous loop until it expires.
Sending photos and messages
You can send photos and messages by tapping Add. After you have uploaded your photo or composed your message you will have the possibility to review the content and set a duration.
You can add text on photos. The text can be positioned in any corner. The photo will first be displayed with text, and then without text on the device. Therefore, it does not matter if the text covers part of the photo.
You can select a message to be private, which means that they will not appear in other family members' feed, only on Komp.
Tap 'Conversation' to make a video call Komp. Please note that the Komp must be turned on and online.
The video call will automatically connect after 10 seconds, unless the user switches Komp off on the device.
